Sounds about spot on, Markets are not about prediction, they are about reaction.

But then I've always admired his KISS aproach, his wisdom and his common sense.

Buffet says it's time to invest because people are fearful. People were fearful after the great crash, and that definitely wasn't a good time to buy (i.e. immediately before the Great Depression).

Remember that even the best traders and investors aren't right 100% of the time.
 
Buffet has so many positions on, we won't know how much he's lost over time, untill he's long gone.
Serously, he admits all the time to not knowing what's going on. I bet he'll end his life down money.
