Liquid validity

I've been using:
https://www.aql.com/ (formerly: http://www.sms2email.com/)
As an email to sms text bridge (forward email from gmail).
Handy for price, RNS alerts etc.

Anyway, AQL either seem to have stopped taking online payments, or only want corporate
clients, invoiced payment over the phone only now...can't fault them for speed or reliability though.
Has anyone used any of the following:

http://www.fastsms.co.uk/
http://www.sms-messaging.com/
http://www.txtlocal.co.uk/
http://www.esendex.co.uk/
http://www.textmagic.com/
http://www.messagemedia.co.uk/
http://www.mediaburst.co.uk/

If you have used any of them (all UK based), how did you find reliability, speed and ease of payment?
Cheers for any answers :)

Why bother, we are in the age of smart phones. You can setup an email address that your phone subscribes to an receive the alert for free. Why spend money on this?

Edit: you can even get apps that monitor for defined email addresses and play a sound

Unless its a blackberry, most push email only polls for new mail evry 5 mins doesn't it?
I do need split second instant messaging.
Maybe blackberry is the answer unless other smartphones do instant email now?
Thats the problem with current nokia, 5 min minimum polling time.
Even with genuine push email, battery life can be an issue.
I don't have a clue about the latest phones, cba arsed TBH
Cheers for any more info on the instant mobile mail though :)

Gmail and Imap4 should do it, but will Gmail IMAP4 work on win 7 or iphone...
This is the kind of b*lls that makes me stick to sms, its solid and easy :whistling

Windows phone, look at office 360. With exchange you get push technology which is just about instant. But aside from that you can setup pulls every minute or less if you like. With the latest mobile phones that are connected to the net all the time you could skin this cat any way you like.

Get a smart phone that has access to an app store. Nokia are years behind in this space

What a d1ck
My current phone could do Gmail imap push all along:

I know its a POS - but its small, basic and does what I want from a phone...

Just set up a new mailbox with these settings:
http://blog.davidkaspar.com/archive...sh-email-on-your-mobile-phone-using-gmail.php
Set connection to always on, Job done.
Instant, 12 secs to phone inbox.
Cheers forker, tool that I am I probably wouldn't have bothered looking into it :cheesy:

Hmm, first day fine (maybe I was keeping connection alive by checking it?)
Dropped conn to Gmail today (always on connection).
Think I may go back to sms forwarding (cost not an issue anyway) at least its stable, mature and reliable.
Had my doubts that 3G is up to this kind of thing, maybe when 4G is rolled out?
There is a reason why prorealtime etc offer sms bundles after all...reliability.
I just don't trust 3G push mail having tried it.

Hi Liquid,

I have an account with txtlocal.co.uk (Textlocal.com) and have found this very reliable and simple, quick and efficient and reasonably cheap. Their also available on the phone for a speedy response should you need advice. Hope that helps.
