Possibly thinking of moving away from financial spread betting and into futures, may even do both.

Anyone recommend a good solid futures broker for trading the DAX?

No, they separated from London Capital Spreads as PS focus is the the semi-professional- or professional trader classification and LCS was mainly retail clients.

Velocity Futures are also very good.

NO they separated from London Capital Group as they were more focused on the Retail traders, and Prospreads typical client base was Professionals or semi professionals. They also offered mini lots to draw in the retail clients.

Velocity are also as good, but the spreads are a bit larger to cover the cost of the trading platform if you want TT.

AMP, maybe, but dealing with a US broker will always be a hassle compared with UK SB, and things are likely to get worse in that respect. As you don't appear to do anything that could be construed as 'scalping', would there be any advantage in trading futures, even without factoring in paying tax on profits?

Aren't you chart exclusive?

I think SB suits someone like you pretty well - the FDAX has a tick size of 0.5 so the underlying spread is such and then you put your round turn commission on top and the costs aren't much cheaper than SB, not to mention you need to account for any profits properly.

Certainly using futures would give you volume and a superior feed (though you have UK - US latency to consider with your broker), but I was under the impression you traded twice a day or some such based on your interpretation of S&R... if I had to choose any candidate perfect for SB'ing, it would be you. Learning to trade from volume and L2 takes many hours of experience and goes against what you seem to enjoy.

At this moment I'm just putting the benefits v the negatives together. Futures are something that appeals because of the volume, but I'm not going to move over just for that one reason. I'm still accessing this before making a decision.

If its just volume you want, nothing to stop you using a futures datafeed into
Sierra/Ninja/Multicharts.

Pay for Kinetick Eurex feed to get FDAX, and hook up to ninja (free unless you
want live execution):
http://www.ninjatrader.com/download-free.php
https://www.kinetick.com/purchase (click subscribe to see fees).

$50 basic plus $6.50 for Eurex indices, and extra $23 if you want Eurex L2.
Use that feed with Ninja for volume (and L2 if needed) but still execute via SB.
If you did go that route, may as well do all charting in Ninja/Sierra/MC.

Alrighty LV,

Quick question on ninja and kinetick, do they offer the DAX and STOXX50 cash markets live intraday feed in the basic $50pm subscription?

Am not bothering with futures just now, I just want good charting and data for DAX and STOXX and to continue spread betting. I have checked the site and can't see what markets they offer in the basic version, maybe I have missed it.

Yeah its not exactly clear, any ticker in basic, but its delayed unless you pay
for a subscription to the relevant exchange - $6.50 for Eurex.

Don't think they do cash markets.
Things like EURUSD and 6E are pretty much identical.
I don't know about DAX and FDAX though, I do know there can be a fair bit
of variance between DOW cash and YM so its worth looking into that variance for sure.

Depends how loosely you are willing to interpret FDAX volume as a proxy for cash.
TBH though, what you are doing looks to be working well, so I'd be wary of
fixing what ain't broke, but thats just me.

I trade the Dax with FastBrokers and use their platform. They have realtime and level 2 as well as charts for Eurex. Platform is free so don't pay a penny for..

just check the brokers list on Ninjatrader's website. Take your pick.......
have worked with AMP and they are cool

Look for broker with Cheap commissions and low margins. Compare how much you will save in commission if you trade 1000 contracts and that will be the starting point.

If you are based in UK and can call yourself professional and put $400k in account then Marex is good.

If you are a new starter and limited in account size then ill recommend to open an account with US based brokers with 24hr Trade desk and have your account funded in Euro Currency with them if you want to trade mainly Eurex products.

Heres one that strikes my mind im exploring to switching to them because of commission's - http://deepdiscounttrading.com/index.html

Heres where im presently - http://dormanfx.com/TraderTools/Margins.aspx

For selecting the broker you are interested in and see if there suport desk is free or busy avoid the busy ones.

FDAX Intraday margin is around $3,835. With less account size you cant open more positions in FDAX.

Try similar Europe Products ill recommend FESX which is S&P equivalent of Europe and is medium volatility and high liquidity, less margin, around 1M contracts daily.

Or FGBL Bund whichis high volatility but its the contract which most of the prop firms like to trade UK because of safety.

All the best.

D30DT trades UK spreadbet, which works well for him.
The reason a feed was suggested as a volume proxy for DAX SB cash.
Also UK SB is tax free.

Fastbrokers have an account minimum of $2500 to access platform,
so unless you actually plan on trading futures with them,
its a more expensive way of getting a futures feed.

Ninja and Kinetick is the cheapest way I'm aware of for getting FDAX volume.
Sierra and IQfeed costs more.

Dax cash / FDAX comparison:

Daily:

Compare FDAX m1 feed to your own DAX cash SB chart:

Not exactly the same as DAX cash, but I'd say you would be safe enough
using FDAX volume for DAX cash.

Cheers,

I'm going with Ninja and Kinetick and staying with spread betting, also got a phone call from one of the SB firms I trade with after I sent them an email moaning about a 2pt spread on the FDAX while the DAX cash is only 1pt, becasue of the volume I put through every month they have offered me a 1pt spread for FDAX, so I won't need to trade the cash while using FDAX data.
