Inspired my Joules' thread and the need to disperse the stresses of the market(s)... I thought I might have a stab at "poetry" myself...

WARNING: this may not be pretty!

Hopefully others can join in this nonsense...

Click; I calmly enter a position
A trade entered with full discretion
Sweaty-palmed minutes pass
Stoploss hit! Sh*t!!
As it heads off in my original direction.

Great thread Yuppie and got me thinking. I'm no poet myself but your post reminded me of one of my favourite poems and, having just re-read it, it bears some thinking about from a trader's perpsective I think:

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Cheers kitejedi.

I remember that poem from a while ago - thanks for the reminder.

With finger on trigger
I search for further information
Off it goes without me
The fallacy of confirmation

Why learn to trade when all you need do is fade
Every broker’s note and analyst’s report,
Every forum member’s call; every index trader’s short?
Simply buy when they say sell, and sell when they say buy
You’ll never lose a cent they say, until your coffer’s dry.

I'm well in the green
I ease my mind by
Moving stoploss to my entry
Price comes straight down
And kicks me out; I'm grieving
The rub of setting stoploss to break-even.

Apologies to W. Wordsworth:

I traded lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills
When all at once I saw a set-up
A host of golden dollar bills
It might be a fake, it might be real
I’ll only ever know if I place the deal.

Very nice... (y)

Why?
Why did I take that trade, I’ve asked a thousand times?
Why did I move my stop, it’s cost me a thousand dimes?
Why did I short that market when all around were going long?
Why did I shift my take profit target when I knew I was doing wrong?
Why did I never see what now I see so clear?
I never should have taken that trade and now it’s cost me dear……

LOL. WTF this is priceless sh*t.

Weren't long Cable early this morning by any chance were you?

Sitting on my own
Waiting for a setup
Mind is dead
Yearning for bed
Only one thing for it
Start a poetry thread.

Fear and Greed are a dreaded breed of things we call emotions.
When combined with humans, markets and money
They produce the most fearful commotions.

Next time you’re long, and it’s all going wrong
Remember they’re ready and waiting
To take all your money, and leave you broke, sonny
And then who will you be hating?

The news is out
It's on the squawk
Everyone shouts, "It's bullish!"
Buying all around me
Surely, not foolish?

I'm watching price
Looking weak as hell
Turn-down my fill sound
Silently clicking
Sell...
