Trading doesn't have to be stressful and boring. We don't have to turn ourselves into zombies in front of the screen - especially when day trading.
With a thought of making trading more fun and enjoyable occupation what about using a real life metaphors. I am sure many of you already doing this. What about sharing with everybody...
Well, I make a start with my own way of looking at trading.
I've always loved and adored attractive females. I was quite successful with dating many of them. The secret of my success was due to the following methodical approach. I have to point out, this approach is only developed after many unsuccessful attempts, more likely out of total frustration.
1. Locate a girl I liked and wanted to establish a short term intimate relationship (Scanning the market)
2. Research and learn all about the girl I was after. Her likes, dislikes, outlook on life, strength, weaknesses and so on. Basically, I would collect all the information I could about her and write it on pieces of papers (PCs didn't exist in those days) and stick them on my action-plan board on the wall of my bedroom. (Getting to know the fundamentals)
3. I would read all the available articles and books on the subject of dating. I even used to ask various friends hypothetical questions such as "how would you approach such and such girl for dating...?" (Formulating a strategy and selecting the tools to execute the task)
I had about over 80% success rate. No, I wasn't handsome with an athletic body. Just an average young guy. However, one other important contributing factor was my positive attitude. I would always say nice things in the nicest possible way. I would treat them as if they were the most beautiful precious thing on this earth. Most importantly I'd treat and make them feel that I respect them as what they are. (I guess these are the personal qualities - cumulative result of what we learn from birth to present).
I'm thinking that, why not treat securities in a similar way. Locate all the attractive ones first then... (No I'm not thinking to trade in pork bellies). Relationships will last long as long as I'm happy with her (making profits overall)
Some may say, it involves a lot of emotions. Yes, it would. That's what make life worth living. Only issue here is to manage my emotions in a positive way. I'd use them to further my trading abilities rather than hinder them.
